Our Story
A journey of faith, hope, and a vision for every child to belong.
The vision for Kidz Kingdom Academy began with a journey long before we ever imagined opening an inclusive preschool.
At just 21 weeks pregnant, I went into unexpected labor, and the hospital equipped to save my baby wasn’t immediately available. In a moment of compassion and urgency, my doctor said, “Wait a minute, someone owes me a favor—I’ll be back,” and arranged for me to be transferred to Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
That favor saved our son’s life. Isaiah was born at 23 weeks, weighing only 1 pound and 4 ounces, and soon faced a perforated intestine, countless surgeries, and a diagnosis of Short Bowel Syndrome. He spent more than ten months in the hospital and later received additional diagnoses including autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and a learning disability.
Isaiah’s challenges extended far beyond medical needs. Despite having a full‑time nurse, he was denied access to early childhood education because he was labeled a “liability.” He remained nonverbal until age four, and forming friendships was difficult because many people simply did not understand how to interact with individuals with disabilities. Through these experiences, we learned the true meaning of inclusion, empathy, and community. We saw firsthand how children with disabilities are often overlooked not because they lack ability, but because the world lacks understanding.
Because of our family and Isaiah’s journey, inclusion became more than a philosophy; it became a calling. Kidz Kingdom Academy was created to ensure no child is ever turned away, labeled a burden, or made to feel like they don’t belong. Our mission is to provide a place where children of all abilities can learn, grow, and build meaningful friendships and where families feel supported, understood, and welcomed. Isaiah’s life is the heartbeat of Kidz Kingdom Academy, and his story continues to inspire everything we do.
Isaiah's journey inspired a mission to ensure children with unique abilities are heard, valued, and given every opportunity to thrive.
“Our passion is that all children regardless of their abilities have access to high quality early childhood education.”
